VOLYA SCHOOL OF UKRAINIAN DANCE ASSOCIATION

Volya School is the "hidden gem" of Ukrainian dance in Edmonton. A high calibre Ukrainian Dance School, parents boast that their children receive top-notch instruction by Zhenia Bahri, superior costuming from Ukraine and lessons in professional dance studios, all for an affordable cost of $350-$500/year. Volya School covers the cost of competition fees, costuming, and any extra workshops.

TIME: Volya School offers dance classes September through May.  Fundraising requirements typically consist of working a casino every 18-24 months.  Volya School's rehearsals are held at the fully equipped professional facilities at Dance Alberta Studios located at 11205-107 Ave in Edmonton.

COSTUMES: Volya School boasts an extensive costume library consisting of over 300 authentic Ukrainian costumes from a vast variety of regions.Volya School provides all costuming with the exception of footwear. All costumes have been designed and sewn in Ukraine, and made specifically for stage dance. There is no rental fee for the costumes for Volya School dancers.

PERFORMANCES: Volya School performs locally and participates in dance competitions and festivals throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.  The group has toured to places such as Ukraine, Salt Lake City, and California. This year, Volya School is participating in an exchange with the Troyanda Ukrainian Dancers to Montreal, Quebec.
